About Me
My childhood to adolescent life started in Quincy, Massachusetts as an only child under my mother and father, who immigrated from Vietnam as war refugees. Thanks to my supportive family & my innate competitve nature, I gained a variety of skills and interests ranging from guitarist, music composition, mathematics, sports, and academics. Eventually, I began my growing passion for Computer Science in high school through my Computer Science courses and a number of different individuals who were supportive in my growth. I viewed the subject of Computer Science as a way to express my creativity, my need to make a positive impact for those around me, and to aid in my intellectual growth as a problem solver.
This led me to begin my studies at University of Massachusetts Amherst in Computer Science & Mathematics. While attending university, I led a pro-bono tech organization called BUILD UMass to provide opportunities for startups and students to build and lead technical products from scratch. From 2021 - 2023, the organization had grew to 75+ students & we supported 10+ startups & local organizations on tech projects. In addition, I had the pleasure to be a software engineer intern for Mathworks & Dell throughout my summers in my sophomore and junior year.
As a software engineer at Mastercard, I have made a significant impact since graduating from college in 2022. As a feature lead, I've worked on a variety of efforts improving performance on exports, outputs dashboard, and financial extraction processes. Additionally, I have successfully delivered two new applications to the platform including a Drive Time Calculation Tool that was utilized by 15-20 clients starting in late 2023. On top of that, I played a crucial role in the rebranding of the Test & Learn product to Mastercard Themes in early 2024, demonstrating my ability to drive change and contribute to the company's strategic initiatives.
